Vanessa Brown is the new State Representative for West Philadelphia and North Philadelphia. Colleagues of mine at Evolve Strategies sat down with her a few days after
her swearing in to talk about her new position and her priorities.
No local electronic media has covered Vanessa's election. By producing this video and posting it up on social network sites, Vanessa is reaching the politically aware and interested people in Philadelphia.
Vanessa has a great story as a community activist that challenged power and won. She is independent and the "real deal" in terms of her commitment to helping her constitutents. She is not going to have the resources to buy time on TV and even the earned media that she may get at some point will not give her the opportunity to really explain who she is and what she cares about. This longer form introductory piece gives people a much better understanding of what she is about and establishes a media benchmark that she will build upon in the coming months.
